Project Background

The client reached out to us wanting to completely refresh their outdoor spaces before listing their home on the market. The property featured a charming layout but was overgrown, cluttered, and lacked visual appeal. Our goal was to create a clean, polished, and inviting landscape that would instantly impress potential buyers and reflect the home’s full value.

Objectives

AESTHETIC TRANSFORMATION:
Enhance curb appeal and backyard beauty with cohesive design elements, clean lines, and vibrant plantings to make the property stand out in real estate photos and showings.

FUNCTIONAL SPACE:
Reestablish outdoor pathways and garden areas for better flow and usability, making the landscape both functional and visually inviting.

SUSTAINABILITY:
Use durable, low-maintenance materials such as decomposed granite, cedar mulch, and metal edging to ensure long-lasting appeal with minimal upkeep.

Challenges

The existing landscape included deteriorated timber borders, invasive bamboo, overgrown vegetation, and outdated materials like lava rock. The side garden pathway had lost its definition, and the front entry area lacked color and structure. Because the client was out of town during part of the project, clear communication and photo updates were essential to maintain confidence and transparency throughout the process.

Solution

CUSTOM LANDSCAPE DESIGN:
Our team began by renovating the side garden area. We started by removing the old timber borders and installing modern black metal edging for a cleaner, more defined look. We replaced the old lava rock pathway with warm-toned Desert Gold decomposed granite to complement the home’s color palette and established a natural walking route to the backyard.

HARDSCAPING AND SOFTSCAPING:
We cleared invasive bamboo, dead trees, and unwanted roots, then trimmed mature bushes near the home to open up the space. Over 90 vibrant pansies were added for instant curb appeal, and we repurposed existing stones and boulders found on-site to create visual interest within the refreshed beds. All beds received a 2-inch layer of premium cedar brown mulch for a polished finish.

FRONT ENTRY AND BACKYARD IMPROVEMENTS:
In the backyard, we removed overgrown vines, volunteer trees, and debris to reclaim usable space and create a more intimate patio environment. We pruned the crape myrtle and added mulch to unify the design. Near the front entryway, we pruned existing trees, removed weeds and leaf litter, and finished with a layer of Desert Gold decomposed granite. It was chosen for its warm tone, contrast, and easy maintenance.
