The London Planetree is a rugged hybrid between American Sycamore and Oriental Plane Tree, combining classic looks with hardiness and adaptability. Growing 70–100 feet tall with a wide-spreading canopy, it offers excellent shade for large properties, streetscapes, and parks. One of its most striking features is its exfoliating bark, which peels to reveal patches of creamy white, green, and gray underneath. The large, maple-like leaves turn yellow in the fall, providing seasonal contrast. Its ability to thrive in polluted, compacted, or poorly drained soils makes it a go-to tree for city landscapes and high-traffic areas.
